Overview

Mala Spicy Pot 七號麻辣香锅 (Setapak Main Branch) welcomes diners to an authentic mala experience nestled in the heart of Metro Genting Klang, Jalan Genting Kelang. This spot has steadily built a reputation for its fragrant and robust flavors, centered around the signature 麻辣香锅 — a dry or soup-based spicy hot pot that carries just the right balance of numbing Sichuan peppercorn heat and savory aroma.

The menu highlights include the savory 蒜香汤, aromatic with garlic, and the equally enticing 回锅肉, delivering tender pork slices with a well-rounded, smoky punch. These dishes encapsulate the spirit of mala cuisine: bold, layered, and deeply satisfying. The kitchen allows customization, letting customers tailor their mala pot with meats, vegetables, and seafood, all cooked to order in several flavor bases, which encourages a personalized dining adventure.

The spatial setting creates a cozy yet lively ambiance suitable for small groups or casual meals. Though the selection isn’t overwhelmingly vast, the curated offerings reflect a focus on quality and flavor integrity rather than quantity. This appeals particularly to mala enthusiasts seeking a straightforward, no-frills authentic taste without distraction.

Feedback from diners highlights a notable evolution in the culinary craft here, especially after a leadership change in the kitchen. Regulars commend the consistent improvements and the earnest attention given to customer feedback, translating into a mala hot pot that even skeptics find approachable. While some have expressed mixed experiences regarding service, many appreciate the friendly atmosphere and the owner’s engagement with patrons.

Located conveniently in Taman Danau Kota, this branch draws a diverse crowd—from local mala lovers to adventurous foodies exploring Sichuan-inspired Malaysian flavors. It strikes a balance between affordability and quality, making it an accessible option for those craving bold, spicy fare in a comfortable environment.

In summary, Mala Spicy Pot 七號麻辣香锅 stands as a commendable destination for anyone eager to indulge in mala cuisine with authentic depth and inviting aroma, within a community-focused setting that continues to refine its craft.

In fact, one of the best 麻辣香锅 I have ever had. Not too oily and 麻, and the 香锅 emits fragrant and inviting smell which you can hardly resist. Despite the tastiness of the foods, it may be my last time visiting this place as I am dissatisfied with one of the owners’ service. From what happened, I do not think the owner appreciate the regular customers like myself (I been here for at least 15 - 20 times) and I actually find that the owner is a little bit of arrogant. Hope there are some other nice Mala restaurants around as the replacement to fulfil my Mala craving!

I've seen people wrote bad reviews bout them in tarc confessions page but still decided to give it a try. Turn out it's pretty good! The environment of the shop is nice, friendly boss and the taste is not bad! Pricing wise 2 pax around RM30 which is reasonable. Only downside is the choices are not too much in compared to other shops, they should add on more choices such as lotus root slice, starch noodle etc.

You get a sweet deal off this place. 6.30rm/100mg for a bowl of all pickings (meat/veggies/seafood whatever is there) and you can get it cooked in classic mala flavor (dry or soup), garlic butter or one other choice. You can also get side dishes and drinks and share the bowl or eat alone. Overall it was pretty good.

They have just relocated their shop to this new location. Not exaggerating but I’ll be dead honest, the food this round was very impressive. From my understanding, they have changed their chef. The first bite I had , I can immediately confirm that this is by far the best MALA so far in Setapak. The soup based MALA taste very good as well. Even my parents old folks never liked MALA have praised that their MALA is very good. The owner always asked for feedback since when they newly opened. Apparently everything we feedback to him, he followed most of it. And now, I’m so glad that I had the best MALA in setapak. Keep up the good work! I’ll be back for your MALA again.
